Package: linux-image-2.6.18-5-486
Version: 2.6.18.dfsg.1-13etch1
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

The 2.6.18-5-486 kernel that was pushed over the last few days to replace
2.6.18-4
makes this system completely unbootable. I see GRUB load the kernel and then
the
screen goes blank; not a single boot message appears and the IDE LED on the
host
remains stuck at full ON, instead of flickering to indicate data transfers
taking
place as it would normally appear during booting.

Being physically present at powerup to select the previous 2.6.18-4-486 kernel
successfully boots the system, so this has to be a problem with 2.6.18-5-486.

PS: I notice that a new initramfs tool was also pushed. If the break comes from
there, please feel free to reassign.
