yes my grumbling was about reporting bugs against old linux versions
if unstable has newer. Lenny will surely release with > 2.6.24 kernel.

the dell vostro alps patch went into stable so should be for the
next 2.6.23-2 upload, you can test trunk daily snapshots see apt line
http://wiki.debian.org/DebianKernel

whereas the i8k is not in latest linux-2.6 head
