Package: linux-image-2.6.26-2-686 Version: 2.6.26-15 Severity: important
Hi, I'm using Debian testing. Recently, my computer shows an error-message at boot, resulting in a stop of the boot-proces. Here's the message: The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2 filesystem. If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2 filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock: e2fsck -b 8193 <device> This message refers to my hda2-partition. Here's an output of fstab: # <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass> proc /proc proc defaults 0 0 /dev/hda1 / ext3 errors=remount-ro 0 1 /dev/hda2 /home ext3 defaults 0 2 /dev/hda3 none swap sw 0 0 /dev/hdb /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user, noauto 0 0 I also get the choise to continu the boot-proces by pressing ctrl+D. After that, everything works fine. I have the possibility to log on as root to give some mainentance-commands. But, the proposed command doesn't do anything, nor does the -p option with fsck.ext3. When I restart the computer with kernel 2.6.26-1, everything is normal. I don't get any error-messages. This is /var/log/fsch/checkfs after a boot with 2.6.26-1: fsck 1.41.3 (12-Oct-2008) /dev/hda2: clean, 36983/3973120 files, 4149665/15868203 blocks I tested my harddrive with smartmontools and it doenst give any problem. This is also strange: It doesn't appear every time I boot with kernel 2.6.26-2, only in the minority of the cases.
