hello I have the same problem on a lenny system running kernel 2.6.26-2-amd64 but in my case the system is crashing every time after i enter a rsync-command, even it is only for a dry run (rsync -avn ...). After a crash there are no entrys in the syslog about it. The problem only happens when i try to sync large directories (> 2GB). When running a i86 kernel the system is not crashing, but freezing completely (only a hard reset is possible). I made tests on the same hardware with the sqeeze version with the same result, but with sid (kernel 2.6.29) the problem was solved. I also installed Ubuntu 9.04 Server and Ubuntu 8.04 LTS server and it worked well, but i would like to run debian.
