Hi something similar experienced with kernel 2.6.26-2-amd64, system hangs with BUG: soft lockup - CPU#1 stuck for 7781s! message in all CPU's under heavy load conditions: 8 wrf process running (intensive math calculations) and a lot of data being copied to a glusterfs volume server by the hanged machine.
