Package: linux-image-2.6-amd64
Version: 2.6.26+17+lenny1
Severity: normal
I created a raid5 md (/dev/md1) device of 16x1TB SATA disks.
When I look at /proc/mdstat i see this:
---
Personalities : [raid10] [raid6] [raid5] [raid4]
md1 : active raid5 sdo1[15] sdy1[14] sdx1[13] sdw1[12] sdv1[11] sdu1[10]
sdt1[9] sds1[8] sdr1[7] sdq1[6] sdp1[5] sdn1[4] sdm1[3] sdl1[2] sdk1[1] sdj1[0]
14651399040 blocks level 5, 128k chunk, algorithm 2 [16/16]
[UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU]
[==>..................] resync = 13.4% (131128536/976759936)
finish=202.0min speed=69742K/sec
md0 : active raid10 sdb1[0] sdi1[7] sdh1[6] sdg1[5] sdf1[4] sde1[3] sdd1[2]
sdc1[1]
1757349888 blocks 64K chunks 2 near-copies [8/8] [UUUUUUUU]
unused devices: <none>
---
The speed is around 70Mb/s the whole time and the finish time starts at about
210 minutes.
But if I calculate this right:
16 disks raid5 = 15TB netto
15TB/210 min = 71GB/min = 1,19 GB/s
Kind regards,
Caspar Smit

it's less confusing that way.
