Hi, I cannot run any 2.6.x....I am on a 2.4.27...what I have found is the upgrade/move to a 2.6 effectively trashes the system and I have to do a re-install.
I am hoping to get an out of warrantee server hence a spare raid controller this week, in which case I can build a trash box to test. regards Steven -----Original Message----- From: Moritz Muehlenhoff [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, 5 October 2009 8:08 a.m. To: thing Cc: [email protected]; [email protected] Subject: Re: Megaraid boot failure On Fri, Oct 02, 2009 at 04:22:58PM +1300, thing wrote: > Hi, > > This is the first time Ive seen the idea to try a newer (yet) > kernel....my concern is going to the new kernel, can I back out....I > cant afford to trash my machine in the past when it didnt work I had > to re-install from scratch. > > I am building a vmware virtual replacement for it so no module so I > can try this "upgrade" soon. The kernels are co-installable, if you install the 2.6.24 you can always boot back into the 2.6.18 kernel.
