I've found a thread about a similar problem: <http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=140999&page=3> but they seem to be blaming NVidia's blob and I can't really tell whether everybody affected is using kernel 2.6.32 and/or alsa 1.0.21.
