Hello, I am experiencing the same problem in 2.6.32-5-686 and 2.6.34-1-686 on my Acer laptop with i855 chipset. System freezes randomly as described by Eric. I guess that 2.6.32-3-686 was fine, but I am not sure (have not this kernel anymore).
