So it does seem to have some effect, in the right circumstances.
(However, in this case, both options are already selected, so it really
would not change much.)

What I do not understand is this:
XEN_PCIDEV_BACKEND
is enabled, but xen-pciback.ko is not built.
Any idea what could cause this?
