--- Begin Message ---Package: linux-2.6 Version: 2.6.32-6 Severity: critical After running 2.6.32 (as well as 2.6.31 and 2.6.30) for several minutes, computer freezes completely. Network or alt-sysrq-b do not work. Further investigation showed that data is being corrupted while reading or writing files. Corruption on reading is easily reproduced with debsums (it fails on random files), corruption on writing happened at least once (under 2.6.32-trunk-amd64) and looks like: @@ -952522,14 +952522,14 @@ 00e88cb0 6d c5 a3 fa 5a 65 87 7c 83 a4 ee ce a9 2e b9 5f |m...Ze.|......._| 00e88cc0 e1 bf 23 e7 1d 2e b6 2f e7 11 ff df e4 3c fa f7 |..#..../.....<..| 00e88cd0 f6 e5 3c fc bf 37 e7 41 77 12 1d 37 79 0c 17 4d |..<..7.Aw..7y..M| -00e88ce0 ee db 1a 93 5d e7 92 5d 7f 35 39 cf 5d 8b 8c f7 |....]..].59.]...| -00e88cf0 39 6c 55 14 9e ba 55 ab fc a5 84 06 95 b1 e4 5b |9lU...U........[| -00e88d00 6e 05 5e db f7 dc 15 1b 83 4b e5 7b bc 36 74 c5 |n.^......K.{.6t.| -00e88d10 05 12 1e 4c c9 34 39 4b a6 64 fa 53 83 67 4a 2b |...L.49K.d.S.gJ+| -00e88d20 c9 e5 99 6d a6 8c 7a 1c 9b a3 57 8a ab e5 cc d6 |...m..z...W.....| -00e88d30 b2 49 1d 9d de 48 54 20 65 93 d4 c8 4a 9d 23 25 |.I...HT e...J.#%| -00e88d40 c2 94 44 97 e0 92 68 5f 01 04 85 9c 63 aa dd 17 |..D...h_....c...| -00e88d50 72 ee 03 54 bb e3 45 d7 60 e6 37 92 0d cc b4 af |r..T..E.`.7.....| +00e88ce0 ee db 1a 93 5d e7 b0 48 7f 15 76 35 18 80 e3 b6 |....]..H..v5....| +00e88cf0 78 7e a3 c3 9e 03 54 fb 77 85 14 09 15 7d 31 be |x~....T.w....}1.| +00e88d00 9b 0d 40 8e 3c a7 7b e4 0d 2e 17 d0 a3 18 4f 87 |....@.<.{.......O.| +00e88d10 56 d8 75 24 54 94 65 39 77 58 e3 5c 01 34 8b a6 |V.u$T.e9wX.\.4..| +00e88d20 e4 f9 e4 2a 26 21 ef b0 9a 90 b3 b0 f8 f3 42 76 |...*&!........Bv| +00e88d30 ff ae 1b 80 15 63 49 b4 e9 b5 96 c3 0f df 18 25 |.....cI........%| +00e88d40 1f 65 b0 b4 3e 8c 9e 3c 33 75 e2 78 19 c3 2a 05 |.e..>..<3u.x..*.| +00e88d50 ae 4d 36 e8 c2 38 cc 97 cf 49 6f 5a 3c 6f 09 90 |.M6..8...IoZ<o..| 00e88d60 45 75 9e e2 2e c5 29 91 d7 3a d1 79 ae e3 92 09 |Eu....)..:.y....| 00e88d70 56 d7 a4 18 92 b1 d7 42 68 50 04 1c 86 8c 04 96 |V......BhP......| 00e88d80 13 56 e9 d7 b2 2a 6d 43 a0 b9 ff da dc e0 e0 ed |.V...*mC........| The system has radeon video card, but DRI is disabled and radeon kernel module is not loaded. I tried to disable ethernet, firewire, jmicron, sound, "C1E Support", but this did not help, though after blacklisting asus_atk0110 it took longer time to get random errors from debsums. Debsums failures, random segfaults and total freezing can also be reproduced under single-user mode. There are no messages on console when system freezes. Under 2.6.26 there is no sign of these problems, computer only suffers from #518643. -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 2.6.32-1-amd64 (Debian 2.6.32-6) (b...@decadent.org.uk) (gcc version 4.3.4 (Debian 4.3.4-6) ) #1 SMP Mon Feb 1 19:11:44 UTC 2010 ** Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-2.6.32-1-amd64 root=/dev/mapper/main-root ro ** Not tainted ** Kernel log: [ 4.013522] md: linear personality registered for level -1 [ 4.017728] md: multipath personality registered for level -4 [ 4.021853] md: raid0 personality registered for level 0 [ 4.026819] md: raid1 personality registered for level 1 [ 4.030585] async_tx: api initialized (async) [ 4.031173] xor: automatically using best checksumming function: generic_sse [ 4.049501] generic_sse: 10182.000 MB/sec [ 4.049529] xor: using function: generic_sse (10182.000 MB/sec) [ 4.117508] raid6: int64x1 2378 MB/s [ 4.185506] raid6: int64x2 2967 MB/s [ 4.253524] raid6: int64x4 2296 MB/s [ 4.321516] raid6: int64x8 1838 MB/s [ 4.389500] raid6: sse2x1 4679 MB/s [ 4.457501] raid6: sse2x2 5288 MB/s [ 4.525503] raid6: sse2x4 7914 MB/s [ 4.525531] raid6: using algorithm sse2x4 (7914 MB/s) [ 4.529401] md: raid6 personality registered for level 6 [ 4.529430] md: raid5 personality registered for level 5 [ 4.529459] md: raid4 personality registered for level 4 [ 4.550751] md: raid10 personality registered for level 10 [ 4.574865] device-mapper: uevent: version 1.0.3 [ 4.575328] device-mapper: ioctl: 4.15.0-ioctl (2009-04-01) initialised: dm-de...@redhat.com [ 4.820090] EXT3-fs: INFO: recovery required on readonly filesystem.
