Hi, I'm having exactly the same problem, only that my host and my guests are all Debian Lenny running linux-image-2.6.32-bpo.5-amd64 (2.6.32-15~bpo50+1).
If the guest runs the 2.6.26 lenny kernel all works, if the guest runs the 2.6.32 backports kernel the acpi events are completely ignored, I couldn't see any sign of them. The guests are run through qemu-kvm (0.12.4+dfsg-1~bpo50+1). Regards, -- .''`.
