Hi Jonathan, thank you for building the kernel with the patch. I just tested it, but sadly I got the same problem again. So I think, Alan's patch does not generate the wished result.
To make sure, to get rid of old modules, i completely deinstalled all 2.6.38- packages (image and header-files), but had no success. Sorry for that! The bug is still existent.
