allo jonathan. appreciate that you took time on this one, very much. i started writing a comprehensive reply, but then decided i was spending my time on an issue where there's no guarantee that debian developers will not do exactly the same thing: make themselves a way to justify ensuring that i'm wasting my time, by designing a deliberate trap to justify closing bugreports. whilst that's extremely harsh (and the long message i wrote and just deleted wasn't), it's the accurate summary and my main concern. regarding the questions you asked: 3/4 can be answered by looking in the first 3 responses i wrote. one of them had an excellent point (have any other distros encountered this) and i've raised this on lkml. answers encountered there i will *not* be forwarding to the debian developers, because i've encountered deliberate traps, now, too many times. [e.g. one debian developer tells me it's not ok to downgrade packages and closes the bugreport, then another actually requests i do exactly that, then closes the bugreport *anyway* before further methods for determining a solution can be found]. when i receive apologies for this kind of behaviour, i'll be happy to present further findings. i really do have to try this as an alternative interaction policy, rather than ignoring the times when peoples' behaviour is, strictly speaking, unacceptable. looking forward to not having to deal with this kind of silliness, ever again, and wishing that there weren't so many users who were dependent on people who put their egos before the people they're supposed to be helping. l. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
