Package: linux-2.6 Version: 3.2.4-1 Severity: normal File: ath9k Hello dear maintainers,
after upgrading to löinux-image 3.2.0 I detected a problem with my wireless router. I suppose, it is related to kernel module "ath9k", which is responsible for my Atheros wireless card in my EEEPC 1005 HGO. I tried two ways of connecting. The first one is using the file /etc/network/interfaces. As in the past, I am using a static IP. Connection is working, I get the IP, but I can never ping to the gateway. The other way is using wicd. With wicd, it is showing me the connection, but never gets an IP. Ping does not work, too, and the line test of wicd fails. WPA/WPA2 is working with this module like a charme. Also another computer with an Atheros card, but "ath5k" module, can connect on the same router with WEP like a charme. Thus I guess, the module "ath9k" of the kernel might be buggy. Besides: I know, WEP is outdated, but I use an older router with only WEP availablke. But as its PA is defective and sending only just with 1mW (range approx. 5m) this is the best protection against sniffers. So I would like to use it further more. Thank you for reading my message!
