Does
mount -t debugfs debugfs /sys/kernel/debug
cat /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_error_state >error_state
produce any output? Please also attach output from
reportbug --template linux-image-$(uname -r)
reportbug --template xserver-xorg-video-i915
