That one did the trick. I usually use dpkg -i but was not sure why you said gdebi (if and when installing debs like above) in instances like above. Anyway while I was able to install it successfully and run it, I still have the same issue. $ apt-show-versions -a linux-image-3.2.0-2-amd64 linux-image-3.2.0-2-amd64 3.2.18-1 install ok installed No stable version linux-image-3.2.0-2-amd64 3.2.19-1 testing ftp.debian.org linux-image-3.2.0-2-amd64 3.2.20-1 unstable ftp.debian.org linux-image-3.2.0-2-amd64/unstable upgradeable from 3.2.18-1 to 3.2.20-1 $ aplay -D plughw:0,0 /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav aplay: main:682: audio open error: Device or resource busy Now I don't know why aplay is still giving me this error. Stumped.
