Installing on hardware that are directly connected to a VLAN trunk port is something that haven't been achieved by us (#433568), and now I'm working with my partner to get it finally landed. We are working on necessary patches for netcfg, and another important thing to fix is that d-i kernel does not support 8021q vlan, that is to say the module isn't included, nor available as udeb.
