Looks like this has now hit mainline as http://git.kernel.org/linus/750e30d4076ae5e02ad13a376e96c95a2627742c It's tagged for stable v3.8+ so unless you want it sooner (in which case I can arrange a cherry-pick) I plan to wait for it to hit 3.16.y. > The second message also seems inappropriate in cases where no RTC > device exists.
