For documentation purposes, I'll write here the steps needed after the kernel upgrade:
Add zbud to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules in order to include the module and run update-initramfs -u afterwards. Then zswap.enabled=1 is enough in the (/etc/default/grub) kernel command line.
