Il y a 1 154 bogues dont 295 affectent directement Jessie, chiffre que nous

unstable et 66Â affectent seulement Jessie. Il envoie aussi un tableau des
données pour comparer notre état actuel avec le cycle de publication

serveurs, stations de travail et ordinateurs portables fonctionnant ensemble
sur un réseau d'école. La création d'un environnement d'étude multi-utilisateur
et multimachine peut être réalisée en quelques heures avec des centaines

des 10 heures de son travail salarié pour LTS avec le tri suivant lâurgence des
CVE de 23 envois sur le gestionnaire de sécurité, l'envoi de rapports de bogue,
un envoi parrainé et des mises à jour de sécurité pour mysql-5.1 et apache2.
Ce mois-ci, il partage quelques réflexions sur le processus et la base
d'utilisateurs du projet. Le projet a encore besoin de ses utilisateurs à qui
on demande de s'inscrire à la <a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts/";>liste de diffusion</a>
et tester certains des paquets soumis, et d'organismes qui rejoignent le projet
et apportent directement de l'aide ou <a href="http://www.freexian.com/services/debian-lts.html";>parrainent</a>
d'autres pour faire le travail.

JavaScript indispensables. Les paquets OpenStack Juno ont tous été chargés et
sont prêts pour le jour de la publication de l'amont.

bogue pour Publican, la première version intermédiaire de Django 1.7.1 pour
unstable et le parrainage de paquets. Le travail sur Distro Tracker s'est
poursuivi, avec un appel à autrui pour

Matthias Klumpp donne des informations sur son blog<a href="http://blog.tenstral.net/2014/11/the-state-of-appstreamgnome-software-in-debian-jessie.html";>l'état d'AppStream/GNOME-Software</a>
dans Debian Jessie. Quand GNOME a été mise à niveau vers la version 3.14, la
fonctionnalité normale des notifications de mise à jour est passée de
gnome-settings-daemon à GNOME-Software. Comme GNOME-Software nécessite un
travail d'intégration supplémentaire de la part des distributeurs, les systèmes
GNOME sont actuellement dépourvus de notification de mises à jour puisque
les métadonnées d'<a href="http://www.freedesktop.org/software/appstream/docs/";>AppStream</a>
ne sont pas encore disponibles dans Debian et son intégration complète à Jessie
a été repoussée bien qu'elle possède une option pour inclure quelques
métadonnées pour GNOME et KDE à utiliser avec les paquets .deb normaux. Tout
n'est pas perdu puisque GNOME-Software est dans unstable, mais parce qu'elle
utilise par défaut les
<a href="http://www.freedesktop.org/software/appstream/docs/";>mises à jour hors ligne</a>
qui ne marchent pas encore très bien dans Debian, elle est affectée
actuellement d'un bogue critique qui l'empêche de rentrer dans testing.
<q>Il est nécessaire de trouver un moyen de rétablir les notifications de mises
à jour et du travail est actuellement en cours pour cela. Pour tous les
utilisateurs de Debian : il faut être patient le temps qu'une solution soit
trouvée. Pour tous les développeurs : si vous voulez donner un coup de main,
veuillez contacter Matthias Klumpp ou Laurent Bigonville, il y a des tâches
auxquelles on peut participer.</q>
Du côté de Xfce, Debian aura bientôt un nouveau paquet pk-update-icon, qui est
encore dans NEW. Cela devrait régler le problème.
Cette situation n'affecte pas KDE qui utilise Apper, qui couvre tous ses
besoins de notification de mises à jour.

une première mise en garde sur le retrait de Qt4 de Debian Jessie+1. Qt4 est
devenu obsolète depuis la sortie de Qt5 le 19 décembre 2012, il y a presque
2 ans. Alors que l'équipe ne prenait en charge que les versions de correction
de bogue, l'amont a annoncé la fin de la prise en charge de Qt4 en 2015, ce qui
nécessite un effort spécial juste pour les corrections de bogue pour Jessie
pendant une période d'un an seulement. Puisque Qt5 est disponible, la décision
a été prise de ne plus prendre en charge Qt4. Comme il reste un certain nombre
de logiciels qui dépendent de l'utilisation de Qt4 et pour faciliter la
transition, un rétroportage de Qt5 existe pour Wheezy.

With the freeze occurring as planned on November 5, Lucas Nussbaum

and the Release Team specifically. First, we froze on the date announced more
than a year ago, and the freeze seems to have been well respected by all
maintainers.
Second, with 310 RC bugs at the time of the freeze, we are probably breaking
a record for all recent Debian releases. Could we have the shorter Debian
freeze ever? Given that <a href="https://fosdem.org/2015/";>FOSDEM</a>
is 12 weeks away, could we even release before FOSDEM, and have a big

The <a href="http://tokyodebian.alioth.debian.org/";>Tokyo area Debian
study group</a> held its 119th meeting starting with a
Debian common sense quiz, moving on to a discussion of the LibreOffice package
in Debian and desires to see more upstream and downstream support. They
also had <a href="http://henrich-on-debian.blogspot.de/2014/11/meeting-event-with-libo-people-in-tokyo.html";>a
hands-on event</a> for debian-installer beta2 for Debian 8 "Jessie".

<toc-add-entry name="DebEdu">First Jessie based Debian Edu released</toc-add-entry>
<p>
Petter Reinholdtsen <a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2014/10/msg00006.html";>announced</a>
the first Jessie based Debian Edu release.
Debian Edu, also known as <a href="http://www.skolelinux.org/";>Skolelinux</a>, is a complete
operating system for schools,
with support for servers, workstations, and laptops working together on a
school network. The creation of a multi-user multi-machine study environment
can be completed in a few hours with hundreds of applications pre-installed.

<toc-add-entry name="LTS">LTS Reports for October 2014</toc-add-entry>
<p>
Raphaël Hertzog <a href="http://raphaelhertzog.com/2014/11/04/my-debian-lts-report-for-october-2014/";>reported</a>
on ten hours of paid LTS work with the CVE triage of
23 commits to the security tracker, the filing of several bug reports, a
sponsored upload, and mysql-5.1 and apache2 security updates. This month he
shares some thoughts on the workflow and user base of the project. The project
still needs help from its users, who are asked to subscribe to the <a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts/";>mailing list</a>
and to test some of the packages being submitted, and help by way of
organisations joining the project by providing help directly or <a href="http://www.freexian.com/services/debian-lts.html";>sponsoring</a>
others to do the work.

<p>
Thorsten Alteholz
<a href="http://blog.alteholz.eu/2014/11/my-debian-activities-in-october-2014/";>reported</a>
that he was assigned a workload of 13.75 hours towards Squeeze LTS
which allowed him to upload new versions of rsyslog, torque,
and libxml2 among others. He was also able to prepare a new upload of wget,
and sends congratulatory kudos to the Security Team who deal with support on a
daily basis.

<p>
Thorsten Alteholz <a href="http://blog.alteholz.eu/2014/11/my-debian-activities-in-october-2014/";>also
blogged</a> his other October Debian activities which
started with working in the FTP assistant role, which has seen a spike of
uploads as developers try to get their packages in prior to the freeze.
</p>
<p>
Thomas Goirand greatly <a href="http://thomas.goirand.fr/blog/?p=225";>detailed</a>
his OpenStack packaging activity for October.
His work involved patch submissions, uploads of multiple release candidates
through various stages, and the writing of a new system in openstack-pkg-tools.
He also backported python-libvirt, python-setuptools, and some needed
JavaScript packages. The OpenStack Juno packages were all uploaded and ready by the
day of the upstream release.

Raphaël Hertzog <a href="http://raphaelhertzog.com/2014/11/05/my-free-software-activities-in-october-2014/";>updated</a>
his free software activities for the month of October
with packaging work towards the upcoming Jessie freeze, bug fixes for Publican,
the first point release of Django 1.7.1 to unstable, and package sponsorship.
Work on the Distro Tracker continued, along with a request for others to
<a href="https://tracker.debian.org/docs/contributing.html";>contribute</a> to the project with plenty of
<a href="https://bugs.debian.org/tracker.debian.org";>easy bugs to fix</a>. All of the Distro
Tracker instances he manages are now running Django which he opted to make
mandatory.

<toc-add-entry name="OSC2014">Open Source Conference 2014 Tokyo/Fall</toc-add-entry>
<p>
Hideki Yamane <a href="http://henrich-on-debian.blogspot.de/2014/10/open-source-conference-2014-tokyofall.html";>blogged</a>
about the Open Source Conference 2014 Tokyo/Fall. Over
1,500 attendees participated over two days at the event which focused on FOSS.
The <a href="http://tokyodebian.alioth.debian.org/";>Tokyo area Debian study group</a>
maintained a booth, giving out fliers, DVDs and
information. In the Debian community session Nobuhiro Iwamatsu spoke
about Debian 8 "Jessie".

<toc-add-entry name="Whos">Who's using Debian Audit</toc-add-entry>
<p>
The <a href="$(HOME)/users/">Who's using Debian</a>
page lists Educational, Commercial, Government and
non-profit organisations that use Debian. Over the course of time the page
has collected a few stale entries that need to be removed or updated in order
to keep the listing relevant and current. Toward that goal, the page and
entries will undergo an <a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-publicity/2014/10/msg00019.html";>audit</a>.
Comments, suggestions, and interested parties are
welcome.

<toc-add-entry name="JessRemoved">Jessie removals/updates</toc-add-entry>
<p>
Matthias Klumpp shared via his blog
<a href="http://blog.tenstral.net/2014/11/the-state-of-appstreamgnome-software-in-debian-jessie.html";>the state of AppStream/GNOME-Software</a> in
Debian Jessie. When GNOME was updated to 3.14, the normal functionality for
update notifications was moved from gnome-settings-daemon to GNOME-Software.
As GNOME-Software requires additional integration work by the
distributors, GNOME systems are currently without update notifications as <a href="http://www.freedesktop.org/software/appstream/docs/";>AppStream</a> metadata is
not yet available in Debian and its full integration to Jessie has been
postponed though with an option to include some metadata for GNOME and KDE to
use via normal .deb packages.
All is not lost as GNOME-Software is in unstable, but because it uses
<a href="http://www.freedesktop.org/software/appstream/docs/";>offline-updates</a>
by default, which don't work well yet in Debian, it currently
has an RC bug, preventing it from entering Testing.
<q>We need a way forward to bring update-notifications back, and there is
currently work going on to do that. For all Debian users: Please be patient
while we resolve the situation. For all developers: If you would like to help,
please contact me or Laurent Bigonville, there are some tasks
which could use some help.</q>
On the Xfce front, Debian will soon have a new pk-update-icon package, which is
currently in NEW. That will resolve the situation there.
This situation does not affect KDE which uses Apper, which covers all its
update-notification needs.

<p>
Lisandro Damián Nicanor Pérez Meyer of the <a href="http://pkg-kde.alioth.debian.org/";>Debian QT/KDE Team</a>
<a href="http://perezmeyer.blogspot.de/2014/11/early-announce-qt4-removal-in-jessie1.html";>gave
an early warning</a> of the removal of Qt4 for Debian Jessie+1. Qt4 has been deprecated since the
release of Qt5 on December 19, 2012, almost 2 years ago now.
While the team did support bug-fix-only releases, upstream has announced they
will end support for Qt4 in 2015, which means from that point on bug fixes
for Jessie will require a special effort. As Qt5 is available the decision
to no longer support Qt4 was made. As there is still a lot of software that
relies on using Qt4 and to ease the transition there is a backport for Wheezy
for Qt5.
