I noticed the same thing.  Also my keyboard was groggy, and my nic was offline for a 
bit.

I solved this by putting a script in /etc/apm/event.d to wait until it's called with 
"resume" as $1.  Then it does an ifdown && ifup, /etc/init.d/alsasound stop and start, 
and kbdrate -r 30 -d 250.  Now as soon as I resume, everything works fine.  I notice 
no delay.
