problems with adding hard-drive to the docking station.

Hello all--

I am adding a new hard drive to my system here. The hard-drive is being
added to the docking station. Do I have to configure this to be the
primary master??

and how do I access hard-drives via docking stations?? what is the name of
the device?

anyone who has worked on Docks, can you help me out??
