I'm using 2.4.0 with my Thinkpad and up to now everything works. I had some troubles
with my PC-CARD C-ROM drive, in fact because a link to the proper kernel module was
lacking in the /lib/modules/2.4.0/pcmcia directory. May be your problem with memory_cb
is the same. Anyway I don't have that module on my machine. If you don't use it you
should re-compile your kernel without that module.

May be you forgot to compile MTRR support in the kernel ('Processor type and feature'
menu). I have a Pentium mmx, so I don't need it.
