Hi,
I installed Debian Potato on a Sony F801 laptop. I compiled the new Xfree86
4.0.2 from testing(woody). I managed to install it. I chose the trident
video driver.
According to lspci the laptop has
a VGA compatible controller: Trident Microsystems Cybeblade/i/d (rev 5d)
and Xfree86 -configure gives:

I've set the video memory 8MB (from the options 4MB, 2MB)
When I start X only the last third of the screen is visible the other
remains black. After switching back to virtual console I have the same
problem which remains after shutting X.
Using the Cybershadow option in XF86Config solves this problem but
only under X. The virtual console has the same problem afterwards: only
the last third of the screen is visible.
Does someone know a solution to make visible the virtual console after
starting X?
