It depends of your BIOS Laptop. My Dell Latitude was noising too until
I install a new BIOS. If you are on Dell laptop, try <Fn>+W or <Fn>+Z
(depends on your qwert/azert keyboard) to force BIOS to reread sensors
status.

You probably need the cpufreq patch. Included in 2.6 kernels.
