I'm trying to measure the bandwidth of devices that outpu Mpeg4, at various frame rates and color vs black and white. One test bed is to meaure, via a flat ethernet hub, between a camera that outputs mpeg4(avc) and a debian laptop. The second will take NTSC video in and use mpeg4_encode on a debian laptop and output the ethernet mpeg4 to a debian server.
A stand alone debian laptop, hopefully, will be able to measure the bandwidth
usage.
Here are the packages that I have found that *may* be useful for this. What I'd
like to know is has anyone set up this type of test bed before or comment on any
of the packages that I have listed as maybe being useful to do these sort of
bandwidth measurements.
Ethereal pipeworks pipemeter psnmp teem kmeter (kmeter) RDLS ettcp(ttcp) mea bandwidthd Bandwidth Management Tools bwmon(itor) nload ibmonitor idms firewall BSPG imbench BUBBA trafanal ipband sunpendulum Lxscope IET iptotal packet pair IGI motion mpeg_enable
Any comments or ideas are most welcome
