I would like to get a laptop and run Debian on it. Does anyone have any recommendations for machines/manufactures to buy or avoid?
Regards, Andrew Clark.
I've been very happy with my Dell Latitude. I avoided the Inspirion line, though - mainly because of the on-board winmodem.
pros:
nice display & keyboard
2nd battery for extra time
supports floppy & CD at the same time, and can hot-swap them
APM works greatcons:
XFree86 only supports the neomagic chipset up to 16bpp @ 1024x768I'm still trying to figure out the sound drivers. I know it can be done, just haven't been too inspired to figure it out.
Hope this helps.
Mike
