Hi! I have installed Debian2.1 on my lifebook and used a pcmcia network card of I friend. No Problem.
Now, I bought one (not the same card) and get some errors. If I insert the card the following messages appear... cardmgr[xxx]: initializing socket 0 cardmgr[xxx]: socket 0: NE2000 Compatible Fast Ethernet cardmgr[xxx]: executing: `insmod /lib/modules/2.2.14/net/8390.o` cardmgr[xxx]: ececuting: `insmod /lib/modules/2.2.14/pcmcia/pcnet_cs.o` I thin, till now, it looks good?! Then... kernel: pcnet_cs: unable to read hardware net address cardmgr[xxx]: get dev info on socket 0 faild: Operation not supported by device I can give the output of cardmgr `status` and `ident`, maybe it help you, by helping me?! ;-) cardmgr status Socket 0: 5V 16-bit PC-Card function 0: [busy]. [wp] cardmgr ident Socket 0: product info: "PCMCIA", "FAST ETHERNET CARD" manfid 0xffff, 0x1090 function: 6 (network) Is that card not supported, or have I made a mistake? The card in general is ok, I also run Win98 on the laptop, and there the card works. splitti -- Stephan Splitthoff, Falkenstr. 36 [EMAIL PROTECTED] 33758 Schloss Holte, Tel: 0173-2103308 http://pam.shs.owl.de Fax: 089-1488-209768
