no safe and sane way. XFree 4.0 will be packaged in the next 1 - 3 months. Until then, you will have to live without X packages from Debian. Of course, I fail to believe that Xfree 4.0 works and X 3.3 does not, the driver support in X 4.0 is much smaller.
