I just cannot seem to get X working correctly on my: - ThinkPad 560 (200) - BIOS 1.20 (the latest diskette from IBM) - 12.1" TFT - Debian 2.1, kernel 2.2.1 - xfree86-common 3.3.2.3a-11 - xserver-common 3.3.2.3a-11 - xserver-svga 3.3.2.3a-11
It only works in 640x480, but that leaves the nasty big black border. Trying with 800x600 either doesn't start or produces something far away from synced (depending on which settings I use). This is what SuperProbe reports (and cyber9382 is listed as supported): First video: Super-VGA Chipset: Trident Cyber9382 (PCI Probed) Memory: 1024 Kbytes RAMDAC: Trident Built-In 15/16/24-bit DAC (with 6-bit wide lookup tables (or in 6-bit mode)) Most XF86Config's I have found that supposedly should work contain these lines, but it doesn't work for me :( Section "Monitor" Identifier "ThinkPad" VendorName "IBM" ModelName "560" HorizSync 25-79 VertRefresh 20-76 Modeline "640x480" 28.32 640 664 760 800 480 491 493 525 ModeLine "800x600" 28.32 800 808 1024 1040 600 600 626 640 +hsync +vsync EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "GUI" VendorName "Trident" BoardName "9382" Option "noaccel" EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "svga" VendorName "ibm" BoardName "bar" Chipset "generic" ClockChip "tgui" VideoRam 1024 EndSection ______________________________________________ FREE Personalized Email at Mail.com Sign up at http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup
