When using only an external display, (such as a projector) you generally need a XF86config file written specifically for it, however I've found that when using simultaneous mode (both laptop screen and projector) no need to modify the XF86config file, it just displays in the same resolution on the projector. Are you running a higher resolution on your laptop display than the projector is capable? Most projectors can display 640 x 480 or 800 x 600, try the lower settings first. Otherwise you could try the Fn-F4 key combination, on most laptops this should toggle between simultaneous and detected mode. If you need a second XF86Config file rename you old file and make a new one, use a suitable naming convention such as XF86ConfigProj then make a symbolic link your prefered file before you startx $ln -s ./XF86ConfigProj XF86Config Regards, Peter
