I have used the 5/5/2000 base install disks on my Dell laptop and they work fine except that dhcp didn't work. I had to specify ( read steal from another machine ) a static ip and then I was able to install potato via ftp. It went well thereafter except some mirrors were incomplete, causing me to redo the access step of dselect a few times to get everything I wanted.
