Hello lads, Has anyone tried the power-saving (suspend) mechanisms on the inspiron 4000? Even the display timeout crashed my X-Server, yet in console-mode it works. Haven't tried real suspend yet, but I guess it won't work. I wonder why the display timeout option crashes X, has anybody dealt with something simlar? Another issue is the shutdown. It should power off automatically, since I have enabled APM in the kernel, and also added the "append apm=on" directive in /etc/lilo.conf. It just sits there and says "Power down". I saw this option in the kernel config:
** CONFIG_APM_REAL_MODE_POWER_OFF: Use real mode APM BIOS calls to switch off the computer. This is a work-around for a number of buggy BIOSes. Switch this option on if your computer crashes instead of powering off properly. ** Is this the thing I need? I don't like admitting my BIOS is buggy ;-) Alex -- Alex Suzuki ..:..
