Can anyone give me some pointers on getting the ATI framebuffer set-up? I have a Dell Inspiron 7000, approx. 2+ years old, with an ATI Rage LT Pro 2x AGP video card which, I believe, is Mach64 based. I'm trying to get the console framebuffer working.
I compiled the 2.4.9 kernel with the appropriate console drivers added in and I changed lilo.conf per the Framebuffer HOWTO. When I boot into this kernel, the screen is roughly divided into 4 quarters, the lower left hand corner being the primary one; the text rolls from the bottom of this corner to the top of the screen. The screen flickers and generally doesn't look so good. Any suggestions? Should I abandon the ATI framebuffer and use the plain VESA one instead? Richard p.s. This is what I added to lilo.conf in the appropriate kernel section: append="video=atyfb:mode:1024x768"vga=792 p.p.s. The append bit in lilo.conf has no effect -- it looks the same either way. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
