That is the sound device used by esd the Enlightened Sound Daemon. I have had problems with it in the past but it certainly shouldn't stop the rest of Gnome loading. Do you have X installed and xdm/gdm? You need a login manager to login to gnome. -- ************** * Simon Wong * **************
