lso not directly laptop but has anyone tried to use a pound sterling > sign (£) in an xterm/eterm if I try this I get # return. Did you setup your keyboard as a US QWERTY or a UK QWERTY ? I made the mistake to take a UK one so I know how are UK-keyboard. Check it.
