I  use hotkeys.  Install hotkeys.  copy one  of the  supplied keyboard
definition files to  .hotkeys in your home directory.  Use xev to find
out the scan code generated by  the E button. Edit the definition file
to map  that scan  code to the  program you  want. I run  mozilla. Now
start hotkeys, giving this definition file as argument.
