I found that XFree86 -configure wouldn't find my mouse. I would have to exit and modify ~/XF86Config-new to put in the correct mouse then relaunch with XFree86 -configure ~/XF86Config-new (I think, I cant remember) after that it was nice and simple like the old XF86Setup
