further touchpad problems

well, i tried the tpconfig idea for my mouse, but now its worse than 
before -- the cursor is still inaccurate, but now it also sometimes 
moves in the opposite direction i move in, but sometimes move correctly, 
without any apparent reason that i can determine
any other ideas?
