Heh. Like I'm any better. ;) > my laptop runs xscreensaver for me when i close the lid, software > suspends when i hit the suspend combo, and does _nothing_ when the power > button is pressed - this last is mainly due to kittens who like > computers a little too much. :D I don't have a power button, I have a slidy widget on the side near my cd-rom drive (which is *great* when you're tired and trying to burn backups). I just wandered away from my computer long enough for it to pull up a screen saver (blank screen). This time when I hit the track pad it came back (the way I'd want it to). Looks like I now have everything in place for successful power management. thanks everyone! emma :) -- Emma Jane Hogbin [[ 416 417 2868 ][ www.xtrinsic.com ]]
