Don't have any experience about the specific model of the sony, but sony's support is disastrous, so if you depend on their support in case of trouble, don't. I have their pcg-fxa53. It is a conexant modem and is workable and the ethernet is realtech which is a simple card but is supported, although mine did have trouble (right now only works when locked into 10Mps half duplex mode).
