On a Compaq, I use ImPS2 (in X configuration). Be aware if you use gdm !!! When I used gdm, the touchpad works well (ImPS2), but when external PS/2 mouse is attached... I must do initialization for autoPS2 before launch gdm for ImPS2 (start autoPS2 ; kill gdm ; start ImPS2).
