Have a look at the
XFree86.0.log
grep the line with "VideoRAM".
Do you use DRI? Did you try to do without it?

I have a line in the log that says "Loading extension XFree86-DRI"
I commented out (to no effect):
Section "DRI"
Mode 0666
EndSection
from my /etc/X11/XF86config-4 file.
How do i stop it from loading that extension?
Section Modules has a
Load dri
that want's to be commented out.
