> And another thing, does an external USB mouse work when you plug it in in the middle of doing something? I am suspecting I would need hotplug to see the external mouse on the fly. If that does not work, I am afraid shutdown and boot up with the USB mouse plugged in would be the remedy? *shiver* >
I have a problem with the external USB mouse, too. If I unplug it, the pointer stops working properly. I can move it around, but if I try to click on something it won't do anything. Also keyboard stops working. The mouse reacts to plugging it again, it lights up, but it won't work properly. Is this similar to what you were experiencing? In may /var/log/messages file I find these lines corresponding to unplugging the mouse: Oct 3 12:49:55 ivor kernel: usb 1-1: USB disconnect, address 3 Oct 3 12:50:10 ivor kernel: usb 1-1: new low speed USB device using address 4 Oct 3 12:50:11 ivor usb.agent[7088]: usbhid: already loaded Oct 3 12:50:11 ivor usb.agent[7088]: usbmouse: already loaded Oct 3 12:50:13 ivor input.agent[7132]: evbug: blacklisted Oct 3 12:50:13 ivor input.agent[7132]: evdev: already loaded Oct 3 12:50:13 ivor input.agent[7163]: evbug: blacklisted Oct 3 12:50:13 ivor input.agent[7163]: evdev: already loaded Oct 3 12:50:13 ivor input.agent[7194]: evbug: blacklisted Oct 3 12:50:13 ivor input.agent[7221]: evbug: blacklisted Oct 3 12:50:13 ivor kernel: input: USB HID v1.10 Mouse [Logitech USB-PS/2 Optical Mouse] on usb-0000:00:1d.0-1 Oct 3 12:50:13 ivor input.agent[7194]: evdev: already loaded Oct 3 12:50:13 ivor input.agent[7221]: evdev: already loaded Oct 3 12:50:13 ivor input.agent[7221]: joydev: already loaded Oct 3 12:50:14 ivor input.agent[7221]: mousedev: already loaded Oct 3 12:50:14 ivor input.agent[7221]: tsdev: already loaded By the way, precompiled Debian kernels work fine with model.
