And for those who may be planning to do so: rethink your plans. The devfs idea didn't quite work out. In 2.6 devfs is only present with its basic features, and it's going to be removed completely. If you do need it, you could think about mounting it at a different position (e.g. "/devfs"). This way, you don't have to change the config of any program already running fine.
