Hi derek i have the same problem with a ati card, i solve using a vesa driver and resolutions of 800x600 and 1024x768, and 16 bit color, this configuration always works, and search then about your driver, in my case, the ati have some problems with debian, but the vesa works..... i hope this be util for u, cya
