Terminal is longer than screen

Hi,

Newly I installed Debian on my Notebook. Just during installation I got 
problems with displaying right the terminal on the screen. The terminal 
(the ordinary; no X) seems to be longer than my screen is. So I cant see 
what I'm typing or what's the prompt .

Can somebody help me.
