Hello, I am still running a custom 2.6.10 kernel on a Thinkpad T41p, but obviously udev-0.068-2 forces me to update to 2.6.12. As the stock kernel linux-image-2.6.12-1-386 does not support CPU freq scaling, I had to compile my own kernel again (with the old config).
With the new kernel, however, the screen goes blank immediately after GRUB exits, and I do not see anything on my screen until X starts. My kernel options are as follows: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.12 root=/dev/hda7 ro vga=792 acpi_sleep=s3_bios which still work fine with 2.6.10. /var/log/syslog says nothing about radeonfb and/or vesafb which I find quite alarming. Also, there is the line localhost kernel: Boot video device is 0000:01:00.0 which has not been there before. What's going on here?
