The fact that the mouse keeps failing when I/O is happening might be indicative of a kernel issue. Do you remember whether your kernel was also updated on Dec. 20th? Or are you using a custom kernel? When you say "other applications that I'm using will also lock up at the same time, " do you mean that the whole computer locks up or just some of the apps? > > I'm unsure what kind of information I would need to give to get the > information I need, and I'm unsure if this is a bug or a user error -- but > any help would be good at all. Something else to look at is the mouse protocol that X is using. Try to let X autodetect what it should be with Option "Protocol" "auto" Alternatively, see how "ImPS/2" and "ExplorerPS/2" work for you, I noticed elsewhere in this thread you mentioned you're using Xfree 3.1 stable. Upgrade! In fact, since you're running on a laptop I would recommend running testing instead of stable. Some might argue against that, but laptops often include little bits of recent hardware that are only supported by the more recent software Luca -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
